I think this article sums it up nicely.

It turns out that Iraq would be months ahead of its current rebuilding condition if Bush's administration would have sent qualified experts instead of neoconservatives with no experience and an agenda to force on Iraq.

I am not going to post links (look the information up for yourself), and I am not a republican (independent), but we are making progress in Iraq. The most obvious sign is that they now have a democratically elected government. This is something many Iraqis have never seen in their lifetimes. We are also making great progress in training troops. Troop reductions will begin in the not to distant future, and will continue until the country is able to defend itself. We will probably never remove all of our troops though, you might as well expect that we will maintain a presence in the country for many years to come. I know this information is not what the antiwar set wants to hear, and also that they will never accept it, but the truth is the truth whether you choose to acknowledge it or not. There have been problems in Iraq to be sure, but it has never been as good as the Republicans paint it, nor as bad as the Democrats wish it was.

marking... I'm not republican but I'd love to see the answers from some republicans...
NOTES: to futurenavyseal. Good luck friend, but you have your wars mixed up. The Taliban was in Afghanistan.
Iraq's another war. If the Seals are your future, who knows where they'll have moved this portable nightmare to by then. Hope you do a little more reading before you commit yourself to those plans.

not a rep or dem, but there is the same amount of progress as there was three years ago.
saddam is gone now, but the prez says we aren't safe ('safer but not safe'???). more and more insurgents are coming through neighboring countries to fight us off because they know we are strecthed thin.
progress will soon digress if something isn't done.

The near bankrupting of the federal treasury and raising the deficit cieling to 10 trillion dollars, and the flawless installation of public infrastructure are definite signs that we are winning. You want proof watch the republican network news: FOX (Faux)
