Barnes & Noble has better selections, the salespeople are more knowledgeable and you get help faster. Their fiction sections always have a rack of 'new' books as well as thousands of others all in alphabetical order. Borders has a good selection, but there salespeople aren't as knowledgeable or as nice. Their 'new' section is very sparse and only a few are as 'new' as you would want them to be. My best shopping experience for books was at Tower Books.

I would have to say Borders all the way. The Barnes & Noble store near me is really hard to navigate and find a certain section of books. They also don't have a very wide variety of books. A lot of big authors arent fully stocked at the stores. The Borders near me is really easy to navigate and has big signs that say what section is there, they also have computers set up so you can search for certain books or whatever you are looking for. They have a ton more books and sections that Barnes & Noble does, they have a wide variety of authors in all sections of books. Even if they arent big authors.

Borders for depth of selection and value. Barnes and Noble for knowledgeable staff and availability of assistance.

Now that Seattle's Best have taken over Borders cafes I'd say coffee is comparable either place.

I like both books stores. I like Barnes & Nobles because they have a better atmosphere for lounging and meeting friends, but charge to join its book club. Where Borders has a nice cafe' and don't charge to join. I guess it depends on your preference. If your going there for books - Borders; coffee - Barnes & Nobles. They both have the same catalogue of books, because if you can't get the ones you want in store, the employees are glad to order one for in store pickup or at-home delivery.

I usually choose to shop at Borders over Barnes & Noble because the coupons you can find online at places like http://www.wow-coupons.com are usually better for Borders than Barnes & Noble.

Borders. They have a wonderful selection of bargain books of all kinds. I've bought many books for me and for gifts. I didn't find that to be true at Barnes & Noble.

Borders is more relaxed and friendly and they serve real coffee and espresso. Barnes & Nobles is more professional and has a club card type deal. Buy books at Barnes and Noble but get coffee at a real barista. =)

Definitely Borders. The selection is nice overall, and the coupons from Borders Rewards are usually good.
