If this is true then it is possible that you are a pest and that you expect things from your attorney that either you could not possibly afford or are impossible. I have dealt with many people who were unreasonable and did not understand ANYTHING about the practice of law other than what they learned on TV or heard from other people. The lack of communication is possibly the only way to deal with your case effectively. Your attorney has the right to ignore you as long as he or she performs the fiduciary duty and I am certain that they will.

Phone the Califoria bar stat. Also the state attny general's office. They have a duty to respond they cannot leave you in the lurch with deadlines looming. Even if your attnys had just cause to drop the file they have to inform you and they should not leave you in jeopardy concerning deadlines. In my jurisiction (Ont. & N.Y.S.). given certain cicumstances a lawyer can be censured or even disbarred for a stunt like that. (file abandonment). I Do not have all the facts in your situation so I cannot hazard a guess what the Cal. bar would proceed but I do know that they will take the matter seriously.
move now and contact them.

If you have hired this lawyer and he or she will not communicate with you, you have the right to report him to the Lawyer's Disciplinary Board. They will notify him or her of the complaint and the lawyer has a certain time limit in which to respond. In legal circles, it's known as "Bar Bitched."

How long has this been going on?
Is your case being held on contingency?
Most attorneys who have contingency cases do not call back clients often because doing so would consume their time and work, thus, negating the whole benefit of doing cases on contingency.

They have many obligations. Kepp track of the dates and time of day of your cals and write a letter advising them of your problem reaching them. If they sill dont respond, you will at least have documentation and you can always change attorneys
