You could have gotten pregnant the previous month. I got a positive test result 8 days before my missed period with my current pregnancy. My last period was on May 1st and I found out May 24th I was pregnant. I would get a better test but chances are it's right. It's rare and hard to get a false positive because the test detects a hormone that your body makes when pregnant. Good luck!

Dollar test or expensive brand name are equally effective in detecting hcg hormones. The difference is that some detect it sooner than others (meaning, some detect smaller amounts of hcg).
To me, it sounds as if you're pregnant. It's almost impossible to get a false positive.
I don't know when was your last period, but you can compare it with me and determine if it matches your situation...
First day of my last period - Aug 16
Intercourse - Aug 30 (etc....)
Ovulation - Aug 31 - Sept 2 (?)
Missed period - Sept 17
Doctor confirmed on Sept 18 that I'm 5 weeks pregnant.
Good luck!! (and congratulations!)

Yes, if you had unprotected sex and your pregnancy test came back positive, you are more than likely pregnant. Those pee sticks test for HCG, which you start producing as soon as you become pregnant. Most just don't register that early because there is such a small amount of the hormone. Mine started showing up 2 and a half weeks before my period, they were just very faint lines.

Just buy another one and test, I found out 10 dpo. Depending on your hormone levels and your actual ovulation date you could find out that early. I've heard mixed signals about the dollar store brand, try Answer, it's awesome at telling you early, but by now you should have missed a period and you could probably use anything. I'm a fan of Fact Plus and Clearblue Easy, but that's me. Good luck to you!

Sorry to say but contrary to many peoples beliefs store pregnancy tests are extremely accurate, especially if they show up positive... We are talking 98% correct. If they show up negative then there is a larger margin for error. It is possible for the test to be accurate in as little as 8 days, so whether you got pregnant last month or this month... Congrats.

False postivies are rare. It is possible to get an accurate positive just 8 days after sex. If you got a postive at 8 days after sex you were probably ovulating the day you had sex.

Blood tests are more accurate than urine tests.
Your body throws hcg hormone which a pregnancy test detects, the only way that you get a false + is if your thyroid hormone is too high. But every test I took that says + usually
is!!

You usually don't get false positives. And the dollar tests are just as effective as the expensive ones. Make sure you check the expiration date.
Congratulations!
