Little House on the Prairie hands down with the blind girl and the nasty rich shop keepers. To trippey for me.
At least the Waltons had interesting characters like the two drunken old ladies.

I guess The Waltons was but I loved both shows. Much better than the rubbish that is on TV now.

Both truly wrist slashing, but you can always tell the most successful by the ones that get the spinoffs. Remember Charles Ingalls became an Angel in Highway to Heaven (now I've had many a blub over that series) plus he used to be a cowboy in Bonanza (or was it Rawhide - it definately wasn't Toy Story)
