What are friends for? If you can't hear the truth from your friends, then who's gonna set you straight? It's YOUR DUTY as her friend to steer her toward a voice coach, or at least get her in to see a pro for an objective opinion of her potential.

As for names, something will come to you that resonates with who you are. Sometimes figuring out a name before you do anything else is like putting the cart before the horse. Get your band together, get a play list, do some rehearsals, and THEN get input from everyone in the band as to good potential names. Then vote on it.

Yeah, i've been asked to be in bands before...i play the drums :-) but yeah, so i know what you're talking about....Um, if she has a bad voice, just tell her that you should have auditions for the singer first, then use her a a "back up plan" incase someone isn't found for the singer. ANd some band names huh??? um, what type of band are ya? Rock? Heavy metal? Well, some I've made up for a band at my school when they were asking about band names. some are "Loser's throne" and "Last in Line" im not sure if you'd like 'em or not. just some suggestions. Hope i helped you out some.

this girl at church is the same way. She sings HORRIBLE - i mean, its so bad people get up and walk out, and she gets made fun of a lot behind her back. Either she doesn't notice or she doesn't want to, but she thinks she's SUCH a great singer. She even records herself and listens to it! How does she not hear how terrible it sounds?
Anyways...
Sometimes, you just have to be honest with people. If you didn't say anything to her and she gets up to sing, someone else might. I think it would be best coming from a friend, even if it does hurt.
As for band names, I'm not too good with that. Think of something that has to do with your (as in the band's) personality.

Try tape recording her and having her listen to it. Well as far as Kill the Wealthy is concerned I'm not too sure if I can help you with a band name. Aerosmith has a top selling album called Eat the Rich so I guess Kill the Wealthy would work

Play something in front of a test audience. Ask them to fill out a questionnaire at the end and include a question about the vocals. That way, you'll get a neutral opinion. You may have to get a different singer if she's that bad. Band members get replaced all the time.

If it's going to be Punk, and if you're talking about killing the wealthy it surely is, then your friend's level of singing "talent" isn't as important as her presentation and her style of delivery - anyone doubting that should put on a copy of NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS, HERE'S THE SEX PISTOLS - which you should probably do anyway - a band's name isn't that important either, as long as it is distinctive & sticks in the mind - don't be afraid of "stoopid" names, but try to avoid "Stupid" names (there IS a difference)

Seriously--

If you have this many problems before you even get started, you're not going anywhere. Anything you do now will fix one problem and lead to a whole bunch more.

Find a different group of people you actually like to play and sing with and then see what happens. If music is not fun now it never will be. You'll neve be noticed if you're not having fun with what you're doing so do it the right way from the start.

Best of luck!

I think you should see how good she is with guitars, drums, etc.
Then, you should say I think you are very good at (whatever insturment.) and tell her you should be this.
Also, if she still doesn't wan't to, pretend you are REALLY bad at the insturment, and say we need this instument to be a band and you are really good at it and I am SUPER bad at it!
You should be that and I should be the singer.
If she starts to feel bad then say but you can sing-along if you want, you, can be the backup singer and I will be the lead singer, because you are really good at that and i am horrible at every instument! If she asks you why, be honest and tell her your not a bad singer but I think you are better at this than at singing!

Honestly, you guys won't make it if the vocalist sucks. You're gonna have to confront her politely. Maybe find someone with a good voice and then confront her.
OR---
record her singing and let her listen to herself. She might end up being so embarassed she steps down from singing herself.
