Do cheerleaders get a bad rap in the media? When I went to high school, the cheerleaders were NOTHING like the stereotypes they portray on TV and in the movies. They were just regular girls who had a job at school. Even today there are far more pom-pom girls who are miles away from the stereotype. They even laugh at it.

I was one and i laugh at how we are portrayed i don't really care cause i know I'm nothing like that. Almost everyone is stereotyped in some way

Most scripts and people working in media are the geeks that weren't getting any cheerleaders in High School.

It really depends on which cheerleaders you look at. Some of them are really like that and that is how they get the bad reputation. There is always one in the group that is like that though.

its more about the college cheerleaders first of all. secondly, yes many are stereotyped incorrectly because of a certain fraction who actually are. pretty normal in society to do that.
