For some reason I have the song "You're the Best" by Joe Espio-something - it was the song played during the tournament in "The Karate Kid" - why can't it ever be a good song that you can't get rid of... Chances are one of you will hook me into thinking of one of your crappy songs :)

THAT HAPPENS TOO ME ON A DAILY BASIS, AND IT IS ALWAYS THE MOST ANNOYING SONG THAT GETS STUCK IN MY HEAD TOO. I ALWAYS GET THE THEME SONG FROM ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE IN MY HEAD, AND THE ONE FROM I DREAM OF JEANIE.

All the time! Luckily, I've got several songs stuck in my head so if I have one I don't like, I just concentrate for a second and turn on one I do like. It's weird, I know. Right now, I've got the tune to "Hakuna Matata" from The Lion King stuck in my head. Only with alternate lyrics that I read on a webcomic.

Do what I do and sing a song that repeats the verse over and over again. I use ...

"I'm Henry the eighth I am, Henry the 8th I am I am. I got married to the widow next door, she's been married 7 times before and everyone was a Henry. She wouldn't have a Willy or a Sam. I'm her 8th old man, I'm Henry, Henry the 8th I am.

Second verse same as the first, I'm Henry the 8th I am..."

Sing that a few times and that will drive any song out of your head.

Yes!!!!!!! And it's either a song you never want to hear again or very annoying!!!!! A couple of weeks ago we fell asleep with the tv on the local pbs station (there was a Queen concert), and my husband woke to the Sesame Street theme. ANNOYING! Especially since he went around humming the dratted thing all day, which stuck it in MY head!

yes!!! Most often the song gets stuck in my head from somebody else talking about it or singing lyrics from some random song. For me, that's contagious, so if you want to "annoy" me, sing a really bad song when I'm nearby. I just hope it doesn't back-fire and the song gets stuck in your head, too. That would be really funny... hehehe.

Even worse is when just a PART of a song gets stuck in your head & won't go away - example:

the bass line to Fall Out Boy's "Dance Dance"

Drat ! Now I've got THAT stuck in my head again !

It happens to me all the time. I don't have a radio at work so I have to rely on the radio in my head. At least your not singing the latest Barney song. I have a two year old daughter so just imagine.
