My ferret is about 7 and is starting to show age.. is there anything i can do to help so the aging process down?

6-8 years..i've heard of them living till 10, but i think that's rare. switch your ferret to a senior formula ferret food. I use Totally Ferret for senior ferrets. My ferrets are both 6. I know it's upsetting when they start to get older, just spend lots of time with them and have fun!! enjoy your little fuzzies. If there happy, they'll probably live longer!

Fixed females have glandular issues that can make them die much younger. There are implants to support glandular function that help they lead a longer, healthier, happier life. My little girl was losing all her hair and was no longer playful when we took her to the vet. After the implant, she grew back her hair over a couple weeks, and has been her playful self for the last two years. She's six now, which is on the low end of the average life span. If they're happy and healthy, they'll live 6-10 years, sometimes (rarely) as long as 12-13.

My source says "A ferrets normal life span is from 7 - 9 years." I doubt there is much you can do to slow it down, best you can do is just feed the ferret a proper diet and keep it as healthy as possible.

Talk to your vet. Make sure to feed a good brand of feed, do a little Googling. Seems like Marshall or someone makes a senior diet. That may help! Good luck with your fuzzy, I have a pretty lil cinnamon girl - I adore her dearly!!! Take care, hon.

six to ten years. find a diet that is fomulated for senior ferrets. it's best to talk to your veternarian on such matters. they can help you find one that suits you ferret just fine.
