Title: The Soldier in our Civil War, Vol. I and II. Entered in Library of Congress 1885 by J. H. Brown Publishing Company. Binding and cover is in bad shape. Pages are in good condition. Discoloring consistent with age of books.

The editor for the volumes is Paul Mottelay.

They could be worth $200 to, perhaps, $600 based on current volumes for sale.

Look up the title and author on www.abe.com and see how the prices are running. Those are retail prices. If you take them to a book store, he will not appraise the real value, but will tell you what he will pay for them. Multiply that by between 2 and 3

If there is a local auctioneer, they will tell you how to get them appraised. They also should have the information for you, especailly if they do estates and antique auctions. Good Luck.
