People are more comfortable with other people like themselves.
This isn't really a skin color thing its more of a cultural kind of thing.
Black kids don't really hang out with each other because they are black but because, the grew up in black families that most likely share certain cultural similarities. They may go to the same church and like the same music. These things keep them together.
The same goes for White, Latino, or Asian.
They don't self segregate because of the color of their skin but because they truly are different from one another. And that's not racism.

Racism has absolutely nothing to do with it. Personal preference for friends with similar backgrounds and interests is the answer. Blacks, whites, and hispanics all have their own cultural differences but dividing people into social race-based groups is very broad. Within each, you have many subgroups who prefer to "hang" with each other. White teens, for example, can be split up by music preference alone as each individual tends to mold himself in the style of his chosen genre....When is the last time you saw a white country fan (plaid shirt and baseball cap) hanging with a white metal fan (goth black and chains)? It's just all about the magnetism of similar likes and interests.

I have no idea. I've seen that too when I was going to high school, I think its just something that some people, espeically the populars never get over. There Are some exceptions however.

Self segregation. America today is more segregated than it was when segregation was enforced. I don't know exactly why people do this but it happens all over. I guess people like to be with people who are similar to them. I'm not saying it is right or wrong it's just what happens.

i have never noticed that.. and where i live there are tons of different races. everyone just kind of mixes together
