my startup is going after national accounts worth millions and i need a compensation plan for the sales reps.
we're a new company and have no idea what large companies pay for million dollar accounts.
any ideas?

Depends on the difficulty and personal attention required for the accounts and your margins. It is not unusual to pay commissions as high as 15-20% if the accounts require almost full time attention, the industry is very competitive, and you have real good margins. If the stuff sells itself without much personal attention, it's not unusual to pay as low as $15 an hour.

Check other companies similar to yours and how much they pay. Best way to do that is to have someone apply for a job and ask the question.
