The students in my school who are enrolled in the Law in American Society classes participate in mock trials in the spring. They are part of a city-wide organization and they compete with other schools. Real lawyers and judges determine the winner.

My school goes to state competitions almost every year with their mock trial team. It is really neat to watch them. Any kid can sign up for it and then the moderators choose the positions that each kid will have. They do pretend trials while they practice then they compete against other schools to see who wins their trial (who presents it the best).
Then the top teams get to go to the state capital and compete there. The kids really like it and they gain a lot of confidence from it. One girl was stopped by the judge afterward. He actually chased her down and said "Young lady! You NEED to be a lawyer." That is what she is currently pursuing. She was just good at it.
