If you were elected were you able to make any difference or is there too much red tape?

Yes I was elected to a local authority for 3 years. I know I made a difference in terms of getting things done for people in my ward. But in terms of the big picture... bigger than getting the trees cut and the footpath safely lit..... there is so much momentum of events, and then the power of unelected officials to steer the agenda and of Government to tell the authority what to do also get in the way.

It was awesome. You can make a difference if you are hard nosed.
