LIKELY THE WIRES AT THE BACK INTO THE SOUND CARD
1-UNPLUG ALL OF THEM
2-PLAY A CD OR MOVIE
3-OPEN THE SOUND CONTROL AND MAKE SURE ITS NOT MUTED
4-THE WIRE THAT COMES FROM THE SPEAKERS SHOULD GO INTO THE GREEN HOLE
5-IF THAT DOESNT WORK TRY THAT SAME WIRE IN ALL THE HOLES
6-IF THAT DOESNT WORK WE WILL HAVE TO MOVE ON TO INTERNAL WIRING OR DRIVERS

your problem could be that there is no connection between your cdrom and sound card.
Some cdrom drives require a wired connection from one to the other.
You may want to consult your sound card or cdrom drive manuals to know which wires you need and how it works.
