The 3 Lord of the Rings movies or the 6 Star Wars movies? Which is better movie series and why?

First, just to correct one thing here...The Lord Of The Rings novels came out years before Star Wars, and Lucas has already said his films were influenced by them. Also, both Star Wars and Rings spawned a number of books based on them.
Now, for me, I still prefer Star Wars, only because I grew up with them, and I find them more fun. But, on many levels, LOTR is the better of the two (sorry, George). I just enjoy Star Wars more, because they aren't as heavy.

I like Star Wars more, although I love The Lord of the Rings too.

The first three star wars are the best, the last three should not even be included. Lucas could have just made the last film as a prequal to the trilogy. Lord of the Rings was good but a bit long winded in parts. There were some really good fight scenes in it though.

STAR WARS!!!!! Just the opening music is enough to blow the Lord of the Rings out of universe!

I would say Star Wars is the better movie series. Can't really pin it to any one real reason. LoTR is an awesome book series, but the movies just didn't do them justice.

Why not Harry Potter??
Well, considering the 3 LOTR movies are just as long as the 6 SW movies...
Star Wars spawned over 200 novels and fan films. LOTR, not so much.
I love them both.

I think both are really great. I am a sf lover, but personally I liked Lord of the Rings more. I think of it like a tale and I feel it has more action than the other, you always expect something to happen

If you don't include the prequels then Star Wars if you are including the prequels than Lord of the Rings.
