I need a good (free, easy to use) program with which I can take the songs that are already on my iPod, and move them to my laptop computer.
Thanks for your help!

The iPod rip program is great! It's free to download from www.thelittleappfactory.com Absolutely fabulous program, and iTunes isn't required.

Its a program called My Computer. You just click on it and open ur iPod. If you have allowed hidden files to be displayed on your computer then all the songs and stuff would be in a file called ipod control. Oh yeah, this program only comes with a very small number of computers.

If you have an iPod, you should already have itunes which to let you hold and add music on the computer. But if its on another computer, add itunes to your laptop, and have your account set up to work on that laptop too.
