You'll probably have to play around with it a little - but getting that eyeliner on your top lid is key. Remember that you should find a good balance, so lean your elbows on something. Hold the applicator like a pen, and with a little practice you should be able to get that smokey-eyed look! If you're new to this whole thing, I recommend trying a pencil first until you get good at it - then if you want, you can move to a liquid eyeliner.
Remember also to blend!
Best of luck!

Get a good eye shadow brush - the kind used for blending. There are all different types. If you go to Sephora or a department store, the clerk can find the right one for you. Get one made with real hair, not synthetic fibers.
I have a hard time doing eyeliner too. I usually draw in the line with an eyeliner or eyeshadow, using a thin brush. And then when I'm satisfied, I just color over the line with the liquid eyeliner.

Stay away from black eyeliner--go with a dark brown or gray. This is less of a harsh color and look more natural on you. Also, I only line about half of my upper lid--from just over the pupil toward the outside of the eye. This makes your eye look more open.
Always remember, you don't have to wear eye liner or eyeshadow if you feel uncomfortable with it. Do what makes you feel pretty!

Try brown instead of black. It's easier & less intense. Trace a brown liner on your top lids at the lashline, then line the inner rims of your eyes & lower lash lines. Then take a brush and apply a dark brown eyeshadow over the top of the liner and up to the crease in your eyelid and along your bottom lashline. Blend, blend, blend. Then finish off with black mascara. I use Rimmel pencil in Panama, MAC shadow in Brun, and L'Oreal Voluminous mascara in Carbon Black. I don't wear blush when I do this and usually wear a neutral lip gloss like MAC Lipglass in C-Thru or Clinique Impossibly Glossy Color Surge in Beach Bunny. Very "mod" looking and in for this fall.

I wouldn't go with a smokey eye color it might over kill your already beautiful features that you already got. I would to a pretty light cream and a pretty light to medium tan color on your eyes with black eye liner not a lot just a little on your lower eye and black masscara. That will give you a beautiful natural glow if you want some sparkle to your face you should try to find a light shimmer for the bottom part of your eye lid. That will give it just a little kick for people to notice your eyes. Try it and let me know how you like it.

I would first suggest that you find out what face shape you have because the makeup may not be working because your bone structure doesn't support it. Try this:http://www.cosmeticwonders.com/faceshapes.html
Also, go with what works for you, you might be able to do smokey with plum shades instead of black/gray/slate combinations or try darker, mixed blues instead. Find a color that compliments your eyes, skin tone and hair and play up the shape of your own eye, not the eye shape of the model the smokey eye look was projected on.

first of all you need two colors of creamy eye shadow, very very dark grey or brown. and sparkly light pink. you also need a brush same kind as youd use with brissels to put on gloss. start with the pink. lightly cover lid and a bit under eye going corner to corner . then take brush again into pink on sides of brush and then dip tip of it in dark grey apply along top and bottom eyelash line like you would eyeliner,,,,wipe off brush well then use tip to blend from side to side . do your eyes before you put on any other makeup so if you smudge you can wipe it off .I bought a set of four cream color kit called revlon illuminance creme shadow,,,name of color arrangement is pink petels, it works perfect for this effect.

try doing dark brown, and dont bother with lining the top if you dont want to, if you pile on the maskara it wont matter.....i've got green eyes too, and dark brown sets them off more than black
