There are some passages but it doesn't say gay-it's more like homosexual terms. but Jesus never said a word about it and it's not one of our ten commandments!

The part about homosexuality being an "abomination" is Deuteronomy 18:22, NIV version.

However, the Old Testament laws were revoked by Christianity, and replaced by the New Testament, which doesn't say any such thing. Instead, Romans ch. 1 says that it's a sin to do "that which is not convenient to nature." I don't know how anybody else interprets this, but if your nature says you're supposed to love someone of your own gender, then personally I'd say that makes it a sin for you to try to be heterosexual, because that's not convenient to your nature.

My KJV is upstairs (and I live on the seventh floor in a dorm with a REALLY old and cranky elevator), or I'd look up Deuteronomy 18:22 in that version for you. Right now, though, I really have no way to get up there (I am NOT waiting twenty minutes for an elevator so I can go get a book!).

Now why would you want to go and upset yourself by reading something out of context like that?. The bible is a contridiction, it can only ever be taken as a whole, and anyone who quotes from it will always qoute out of context. It's also incredibely sexist and puts women in a subservant position so what does that tell you?

By all means enjoy the read, but do remember to treat it as a work of fiction which, from a purely personal point of view, is all it is at the end of the day.

Some have interpreted the scriptures in Leviticus to be a blatant condemning of homosexuality. However, at that period in time the word homosexual was not available for use - things such as DNA, Hormones, and Genetics were unknown during this time and the people quite primitive. You must also read all of Leviticus to understand what was going on at that time. The word Leviticus means "Law". The law's that were directed at the people at that time were very extreme....don't wear mixed fabrics, men - don't trim your beard, women - you are unclean during your menstrual cycle and cannot enter the house of God, you may kill your children if they curse you, men don't lay with other men...and the list goes on.

Considering the harshness of these laws I feel that they may have been put in place only for those people at that time....I seriously doubt that they were intended for us. Also, I doubt that the "men lying with men" law has anything to do with what we know homosexuality to be today. A loving, committed relationship between two men (or women) runs far deeper than simply sex. The so called "Christians" that use these scriptures to condemn my relationship (of 10 years) never look at the fact that the Bible was written a very long time ago by men (women were considered less than men at this time in history as well). They assume what they read in Leviticus is about homosexuality and use those passages to condemn me, and others like me, to hell, while at the same time they leave out the rest of the laws - the laws that they aren't following. Truthfully these people that spew such hatred in the name of Jesus are nothing like the man. These are the same kind of people that killed Jesus. He was different and went against everything that was considered “the norm”….so they killed him. And now they persecute us in Jesus name….now tell me, how God like is that? And they say we’re going to hell...that’s a laugh.

The Bible says many things and often contradicts it's self. I'm not saying that the Bible is all bunk, I just believe that it was NOT written for others to use as a tool of judgment....it's misuse has become very dangerous. The Bible is not the last word on whom and what God is...it is filled with stories of how certain people experienced God at a certain time. Many other books have been written since then that share people's experiences with God...God didn't stop communication with us...we stopped communicating with her.

Here's a better question: Who cares what it says in a book written by a bunch of guys with an agenda 1800 years ago? It's just a book. It's a good book, but it's not the ONLY book.

Primitive peoples have ALWAYS had a problem with homosexuality. Just look around you for evidence.

Taking part in the 7 sacrements used to be what the church thought of as a requirement to get into heaven. Two of the sacrements were marraige and baptism of a child, which gay's could not take part in untill lately, so it came to be believed that gay's were unholy and could not get into heaven.

Bible writers left us nothing enlightening about the mind of God on such matters. Why they didn't even enlighten us about homosexuality at all. In fact, they enlightened us more about their ignorances, arrogances, powerlust, blood thirstiness, and tyranny than anything else.

Read the Bible, and enjoy it, but do so with the utmost intelligence.

Listen to speedy , it doesn't say gay . the term gay has only been used for 30 - 40 years and homosexual wasn't around 2000 years ago either. If you have any morals you know that gay is wrong. If you want to lie to your self you can interpret the bible the way it fits you deviant life style. It would be easier to prove pedophilia is Ok than it would homosexuality.

In the New Testament, Paul expressly condemned homosexuality in Romans chapter 1 and in 1 Corinthians chapter 6. Also, Jesus defined marriage as a sexual union between a male and a female in Matthew chapter 19.
