Some teachers offer extra credit, but some dont. Class participation is also a big part of your grade. Being good in class and participating may be a deciding factor between a B+ or an A-. Show your teacher you are making an effort, even if you dont always get homework or test questions right, at least the teacher knows you are trying your best.

1.) Connect things that you working on to real world applications, or to other mathematic uses. Show your teacher that you understand the application.

For example: 1 is the multiplicative identity (1 * x = x). This is used to convert fractions to find a common denominator:

2/3 + 1/2 =
2/3 * 2/2 + 1/2 * 3/3 = (2/2 and 3/3 are fancy ways to say 1)
4/6 + 3/6 = 7/6 = 1 1/6.

Another example: Linear algebraic equations can be used to determine break-even points:

If it costs $3000 to start a business, and $10 to build 1 unit of product, how many do you have to sell at $15 to break even?

Cost = $3000 + $10x (where x = no. of units)
Revenue = $15x

Cost = Revenue
$3000 + $10x = $15x
$3000 = $15x - $10x
$3000 = $5x
x = 600 units

2.) Show your work on all problems! Most math teachers give partial credit if you show your work and show that you understand the concepts.

3.) Practice without a calculator, or with only a standard calculator (instead of a graphing calculator).

Some textbooks have suggestions for projects or reports. Some also might have web sites with enrichment activities. Ask your teacher if you can earn extra credit by doing one of these activities or offer to give a report to the class on a topic you're studying.

You can talk to your teacher and ask him/her what you can do for extra credit. Also you could study more and take more time to learn thing and if you don't understand something ask your teacher so you can learn the material and score higher on your tests.. good luck

ask the teacher if there is anything you can do to raise your grade. usually teachers will have something for you to do. if not, then let it go and just concentrate on doing really good on homework and tests. STUDY!
