Depends how much money you invest in recording. You CAN record in any way you want but most professional recordings are done digitally nowadays. Even in the day of the "album" professional recording was done on reel-to-reel master tapes, not directly onto vinyl.... not since the 50's anyways. They do still release LP's. I know this b/c I see them occasionally at Newbury Comix. Also consider DJ's scratch and that requires an LP of sorts... made for that purpose of course.

Not in the U.S. Vinyl has pretty much gone the way of the dodo. Everything is digital now. Heck, for $200.00 you can go out and buy a mini recording studio that is more high-tech than the equipment The Beatles used when recording "Abbey Road"...

Yes. They are used by DJs. You can still find them on big stores like Virgin Megastores and Tower Records.

No you can convert to MP3 now, if you have any vinyl stuff.
