I was really disappointed when he asked to leave, I think that he should have had to live out his contract regardless of how he messed up his personal life in edmonton. That being said I think the oilers got a good trade for him and they should to awsome this season

I don't think Pronger screwed the Oilers. I think Pronger screwed Pronger.
The Ducks don't have the speed or attack that the Oiler's had last year. That speed around him more than made up for his lack of it.
Look for him to be much less of a factor this season.

Pronger helped the Oilers. The reason they got to the Cup finals was because of Pronger. I thought after a good year with Edmonton, he would stay. I heard it was his wife/girlfriend's decision to move somewhere else.

Shouldn't this read 'who thinks Pronger screwed the news chick'? LOL
I am not sure of the situation, but Pronger signing and then wanting a trade (even before the playoffs started) was just bad news. The old guard top line defencemen are on their way out, Edmonton will be better off with some young guys they can get 5 or 6 years out of.

Wow, I didn't know the fans were so ticked off at him, but he talks about it to ESPN..
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2594778
He says in the article that someone made up the story about a "news reporter" (that someone else here answering this question mentioned)
Sounds like an awful lot of rumors and it's probably hard to know what the real deal is.
Well.. maybe the Oilers will win the Stanley Cup this season and have the last laugh on Pronger? ;o) (you never know!)

i believe that he certainly lost face when he choose to get out of oilerville and to leave it without an explanation out of a 5 year contract.Tho I give THE OILERS full marks for letting him go and up front with it as only good canucks are capable of,tho it does suck.

Pronger is an a-s-s hole for leaving them, know i really don't like him as a player just like i lost respect for Eric Lindros for turning down the Quebec Nordiques when he was drafted. the Nordiques got the better player anyways in Peter Forsberg from the trade.

Is there any doubt! If you sign a five year contract and demand a no-trade clause so that the team can't move you just because they want to, shouldn't you do the same for the team and play out the contract. He's just another spoiled pro athlete.

I don't know that I would say he screwed them but I was really surprised that he wanted out after having such a great year. And if it was his wife that wanted out of there she should have sucked it up and stayed put and got use to it. She knew when she married him that he could get traded and moved around. She should support him and go wherever he needs to go for his job because he is supporting her financially with that job.
