I have my ideas on my story but I'm stumped on how to put them all together and am tempted to just forget it.

try starting from the middle, or writing down your ideas in random order. just getting things down can help you get moving in the right direction.

Don't give up! Just get creative and solve the writer's block problem!

Do you have any other projects that you're working on? Whenever I get stuck in the middle of a long writing project, I find that just getting my juices flowing with a short story or some poetry on completely different subjects really helps. It lets my mind take a break and find a fresh perspective.

I also have some books that are old stand-bys. I've read them dozens of times, but they always seem to motivate me and help me get back on track. Do you have any books about the craft of writing that work for you like that? Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg and Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott are my two big motivators. Definitely classics!

My third big help is to go outside and do something active! Take a walk, rollerblade, go to the gym, go swimming-- just get out of the house and away from the words that are driving me crazy. Getting the blood pumping is really important for your mind and your concentration.

Don't worry about putting things together just yet-- just put all the ideas down on paper! If you have different scenes in your head, write them all down and don't worry about how they fit. You don't have to write from the beginning to the end. Many authors like to start by writing the end of the book or the climax, and then work from there. You can always shuffle scenes around during the editing process.

Good luck!

Maybe you should forget it, but just for now! Usually if you do something else totally unrelated for a while writers block will go away. Maybe watch a funny movie or go for a walk. Just put it down for a while, maybe even a day or a week and something will pop into your head.
If you feel like continuing now then maybe just brainstrom some ideas without thinking if they are "good" or "bad". whatever they are just writen them down!

Don't give up on it. You'll find that if you put your mind on other things for the meantime, you'll get ideas about it along the way. Make sure you have a way to record ideas at any given time--they will most probably come when you least expect them.

It must have been a good idea to begin with if your having a hard time giving it up. Better to put it off for now than to quit.

Never give up the project, but it to the side. Start something else but keep a notebook handy for ideas you think up about the orginial works. It will help break you out of the block.
