Thats a really tough one. I'm a fan of both but if pushed I'd have to say Joy division purely on the strength of closer. Classic album.

Since New Order are 3/4 of Joy Division plus the drummer's girlfriend it's hard to say, on the total recorded material New Order, on quality ratio Joy Division.
Bono said Ian Curtis was the greatest singer of their generation once, I'd have to agree.

New Order but just, Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division - classic, but Blue Monday is as good and New Order have had more good tracks I reckon

Joy Division..." Love will tear us apart".... a True classic.... ( i have the 7" Vinyl on picture disc.!! ...New Order , Very good with video , but the songs lacked "Felling"

Both. If you are new to them, new order are more upbeat. Joy division are for those moments when you need to appreciate music alone. Both are essential listening.
