I've often wondered about this...when you think about the millions of people that have died before us it seems hell must be filling up. But then maybe only the really bad people go there.

There was a funny essay written once that tried to explain the likely characteristics of Hell. The question was something to the effect ..is Hell endothermic or exothermic. If it was exothermic..the author argues that the more souls that go to Hell...then Hell would be expanding at an expotential rate. If Hell was endothermic, as souls are packed into the same amount of space...eventually the temperature would be decreased (assuming souls have no heat production of its own).
Essentially, more people exist on the Earth every year, if an equal proportion of souls go to Hell... Hell would either freeze over because its endothermic...or all Hell would break loose:D

When there's no more room in Heaven, will THOSE dead also walk the Earth? That makes about as much sense as the idea of people getting crowded out of Hell.
Who has been telling you such things? Surely it's not anywhere in the Bible.
Assuming that either place exists, why cannot both places be infinite in size and of unlimited capacity to hold souls?

No, when the room runs out, each person will inhabit another body in hell. It'll be the worst roommate you ever had. That'll cut down the space taken up by about half. It'll be weird and creepy, but it's hell--weird and creepy is par for the course.
If you believe in that sort of thing. Which I don't. So I guess I'll be getting a soul roommate when I die. Poo!

Actually some of the reports from those who have had out of body experiences seem to indicate that the dead are ALREADY walking the earth just in a different dimension.

Not true. Most christians believe that hell is eternity separated from God; away from His grace and favor. I don't know if it's a temporal place...but I believe God accounted for all those who would be going there so there is no fear of it filling up. (unfortunately)
Here are some good christian websites about the subject.

Hell is not full of bodies, it's full of souls and they take up alot less room than bodies. Don't worry, there will be room left for you.

hell isnt the size of a closet. It is another relm, and so it is as big as it needs to be and stretches to fit new evil people. It isnt like the real world where sizes are permenant. it is whatever size it needs to be.
