GRADING AND TEST SCORES

79.6% could be a C+ (Very high, but still in the "C" category, in the upper part, almost to 80)

Each school has it's own scoring system, and dividing lines for grades. For example, here is one for a high school:

A= 100-90
B= 89-80
C= 79-70
D= 69-60 NO CREDIT
E= 59- 0 NO CREDIT

Sometimes, different classes will use their own system. Some teachers may grade on a "curve" or use "norm-based" scoring where test scores or a student's achievement is relative to other students in the class. The philosophy of curving, based on the theory of the "bell curve", says that there is no absolute standard of performance (the scale above is absolute), but that as long as you do better than your classmates, you deserve a good grade, even if you have not mastered the material. If the highest score in the class was 79.6%, then that would be an "A", and the rest of the students scores would be adjusted downward relative to that. There are also several other ways to calculate grades with a curve.

In most classes that's a C. C's don't go to med school. However, getting 79% of a CLEP test is super. If the teacher marks on a curve it may be a good grade, he/she may make tests very hard and not expect students to get 100%. Ask the teacher.

Should be a C+ or B-. But, since it is so close to a B-, if you approach the teacher and ask for extra credit and show a commitment to improving your grades, he or she may be willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and round up to the B-. Good luck!

Well if the teacher decides to round up the grade that would be a B. Other than that it would be considered a C+

It depends on the eacher, it can be rounded up to a B because it is so close, but it might be considered a D if your teacher hates you.

it really depends on the teacher, but most would consider that a C+, some might bump it to a B-, but normally they would only bump it if it was a 79.8 or 79.9%, and that is only if they bump up grades
