I would try the Keys in Florida. The diving there is the best in the world and if you go for 2 weeks you can go to Orlando with the kids too!

Turish coast line is still very mild and pleasant in October and all the summer tourists are gone... that should be very nice there for d kidz and flights are available and not long distance (from central europe/uk)

Lanzarote will still be warm that time of year and not too long a flight, some nice beaches and bays there.

crete it 4hour flight lovely place plenty of places for snorkling just home you should try it you want to be inthe hersoniss area you wont be dissapointed
