Because in therory when a person judges someone else they are taking the focus off themselves and putting the focus on the other person. Additionally society is broken down into small groups of people and these small groups all have different belief systems that they belong to and in order to be part of a group you have to adhear to the belief system of the group those that are not are then "judged" for a different belief system. I call these groups" "clicks" additionally another big factor is jealousy . But most common I believe is that people love to be negative about others, sad but true. It gives them something to talk about.
I always let negative comment go in one ear and out the other unless it is from a trusting friend that doesn't have his or her own interest at heart. If you march to the beat of a different drummer and always do what your heart is good. ieven if you are judged in a negative light you can still stand proud for being yourself and beliving in what you believe.
wow what mouth full

I think judgement is a way of being "above" the person they are judging...they don't want to be judged by the same standard...if you look at a courtroom the judge always looks down on people from the bench even if they are Ruth Bader-Ginsberg. There's a reason for that.

People have always judged other people and very rarely do the people being judged want to be judged.
It's just one of those things in life you either accept or let it bother you.

judging others is easy. its fun. It give the judge a sense of superiority. It give the judge a feeling of power.
No one wants to be judged. It not fun. Its often embarrassing and hurful. It allows others to point out our weaknesses and our flaws. It forces us to face the truth.
Given a choice, judge or be judged. I'd choose judge everytime. So would you.

When we judge others we are really projecting out onto others what we are afraid or ashamed to see in our self's and we don't even realize we are judging.

I think its to get the attention off of themselves. If they make others think that someone else is doing something wrong, then they think others will think of themselves (the person judging) less.

I read this once, and it has really stuck in my mind:
We judge others by their actions
but judge ourselves by our intentions.

Because, it makes them feel better about themselves. People do that so they feel like there're better and the other person is lower than them.
