My favorite song by Jim Croce is "Operator." I heard Jim Croce on the Radio 3 years before the world and me knew who he was and it did take me that 3 years before he hit a Big Song, Bad,Bad Leroy Brown and I saw him on Late Night T.V. He sang Bad, Bad :Leroy Brown and then did Operator right after that!!! I liked him when I first Heard Operator but did not know who he was!! I just wish he was still around because I know we would all enjoy just hearing him tell a story by singing to us. Yes, 33 years ago we did lose a Star who was Just (as they say) Born. Because of him is the reason I like to write myself. To tell a story of every kind. I also did learn to play a guitar because of him. Why. I wanted to be like him. Simple down home person who likes to make people happy just by singing. I did not do it but he has been gone 33 years but lives on with us by the gift he gave to us. Himself!

Time in a Bottle. It brings back memories of my first love! He had a vintage player piano and that was one of the rolls he had to play on it. Now, whenever I hear the song, I think of Michael.

Roller Derby Queen!!!!! Of course, Time in a Bottle too. My aunt had his music & I always listened to it with her. I was 11 at the time of his death. How old was he when he died, Sunshine? Has he been gone from here longer than he was alive? I think it's a close thing - he wasn't with us very long, was he?

I think I have to agree with "I've Got A Name" as my favourite (now I'm singing it in my head) but I can honestly say I loved every single song the man put out. R.I.P. Jim

Time in a Bottle -- I like I've Got A Name too!!
It's hard to pick a favorite, all of it is great. Harry Chapin is another artist that I love. They both were great story tellers and could evoke emotions with their gorgeous voices and lyrics about ordinary people doing ordinary things.
I will neither mess with "Slim" for sure, nor "spit into the wind"! Thanks Jim for that tip!
Missing him too -- thanks for the memorial!
