I think it is wrong for students to ask others to do their homework for them here. Don't get me wrong, asking for help and guidance is fine, but when you get the questions like: "complete / solve this equasion, show the work/steps" to me is wrong. Maybe I am just jealous because I didn't have this as a resorce when I was in school, so any answers were my own, right or wrong. But, I had to do the work and learn it myself.
And here is something to consider to all those asking for help; how do you know the answer you get is right and that people are not messin' with you so you will look stupid? Food for thought.

LOL. Yeah, I do agree. More food for thought, the people who rely on this to complete their homework also have to prove themselves when they get out into the "real" world. If they never did the work themselves, they're in for quite a shock. No one will do their jobs for them, if they manage to find one, they may have to actually work to keep their jobs. Although, sometimes I wonder about that as well! So many people who supposedly "work" come here or play games online. Most of the people I talk to while in Yahoo games are "at work!"

If the question is asked in an appropriate way, I'll chuck the answer their way. I won't answer the little demons who post "Answer these 10 questions and don't give me any S**T or I'll report you for abuse." Gotta love that.
Usually, I like to point them in the right direction, but also, don't see the point of posting a WIKI entry. I mean, surely they know about that!
I like to work on the ones that interest me. I'm a professional educator in the history field. I'm amazed at how many time I have to look stuff up.
I try to include something a little controversial too, just in case the kids are actually sentient.
The idea is for them to know the answers and the reason behind them when they are done with the homework. Not to have to jump through hoops to fill out a form. Memorization, is just surface learning and essentially prepares the mind for nothing. Which is what we get out of our College graduates these days, (dont get me started).
Give em a break, and answer the ones you want to answer.

personally i do not agree.i beg to differ for the following reasons
1.the students are overburdened with stereotype problems to be done as homework
2.the students,at least most of them might do very badly if they do not get this kind of help
3.if they do not understand something someone should shoe them the steps
4. it is not as though they are going to copy paste/cut past whatever they get from us.they have to manually copy it by writing it out.so all the more reason it is better to show the steps
5.they get an opportunity to learn to do differently and think differently as everyone out here has a different way of approach, style etc.
6.they will become more discriminating as they are able to study, analyse and choose

i would say that asking for help or guidance like that of which you mentioned is perfectly fine, but i do agree that having someone actually do your homework may benefit you at the time but you will not have learned anything from someone doing your homework as if you would if you were to have asked for guidance. I totally agree with you!

Although I agree with you today's kids just want the answer. They don't care who gives them the answer they just want to be done with the homework.
Many of my students are involved in so many activities they just don't have the time or so they say.
So i definitely agree with you! All they are doing is getting the answer but not learning the material.

You must be in high school are something because that craps happens all the time. Not saying it's right but in life you have cheaters and slackers and then there are people that will actually do the work. So yeah I agree with you.

I don't think it is right to ask for answers, but I believe this section could help students who didn't quite understand in class and their teacher didn't have enough time to help them out.

You know...I agree with you. That is completly wrong. Larry, The Merchant and I sat around for a good hour and a half debating about this particular subect, and all three of us came to this conclusion: Cheater is just another word for Cleverness.

I think if kids need help with home work they need to ask the teacher or their parents but NEVER ASK A CLASS MATE OR A FRIEND TO DO IT FOR THEM THEY CAN ASK THE FRIEND FOR HELP BUT I THINK THAT IS WERE THE LINE IS DRAWN
