As long as you know your not, you should be able to accept it, and let them know your not, but still value your friendship, and if they try to push it on you anyway and not respect your feelings, then stop being friends. As long as you know who you are inside, it should be ok

If they are gay then thats who they are. If you didn't have a problem with them before then why have one now? Them being gay doesn't change who you know. It just means they are trying to open up more to you and telling you something that they hold close to them. They don't tell you that just for you to judge them. A true friend would judge them for being gay.

If I were friends with a gay person, I would not let their sexual preference interfere with our friendship, as long as the individual respected my sexual preference and our friendship. In some situations, it takes strength, compassion, and understanding to separate friendship from other scenarios. Many of us are guilty of abusing a sincere friendship because we perceive it to be something other than friendship. Because of the negatives associated with being gay, your friend is in need of true friendship. So if you are that particular person, hang in there dear and near. I'm a million percent straight, but I have a beautiful gay friend who is one of the most terrific females I know. In fact I want to most definitely be around if she ever decides to date men. Stick around. It can do you no harm as long as you remain focused on who you are, and what you're about. In your situation, mutual respect, compassion, and understanding are vital keys to the survival of you and that individual's lasting friendship. Has nothing to do with sexual preference.

Why would you have to do anything, it shouldnt change anything unless the new information makes you uncomfortable. If it does then you can make whatever choices to discontinue the friendship or find out more about it.

Stand by my friend
It isn't my life, it is theirs and they have a right to live it as they choose.
I surely wouldn't think any different of them.
