Young Guns and Young Guns II

Tombstone is my favorite.

I have to say "The Missing" with Tommy Lee Jones is an amazing movie, but does get very graphic at times.

As an aside... what's wrong with older westerns? You'll find amazing settings, stories and actors without most of the gratuitous violence and sexual content that you'll find in most movies today. Yes, you'll find plenty of gunfighting. But you'll also see that there was a time when showing blood on the big screen was nearly unheard of!

Our daughter (and any future children we're blessed to have) will be growing up with the old westerns. I'd recommend looking into some older westerns... I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Edited to add my hubby's two cents:

The best "recent" western isn't really a western ... Quigley Down Under ... great cowboy setting, no excessive violence, no nudity or gratuitous sex. Now, I think one of the best westerns of all time was the Duke's last movie, The Shootist ... a great all star cast, and a a reasonable story-line! Tombstone was also very enjoyable.

The Missing with Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones was really good. The movie is directed by Ron Howard.

Clint Eastwood did a few westerns late in his career that were really good. Check them out some time. Also, try a tv series called THE ADVENTURES OF BRISCO COUNTY JUNIOR starring Bruce Campbell.... it's kind of a modern age WILD WILD WEST. Fun stuff!

I liked both Tombstone and Wyatt Earp. Unforgiven was also really good. and Broken Trail (just came out on T.V.) was really good.

but my all time favorite western is "The Cowboys". It was one of John Wayne's last movies.
