I cannot get this drive to load up automatcally. I do not need the firmware update. I have been looking for this file for along time. I've already tried driversguide.com.

Thanks,

You shouldn't actually need drivers for your CD-RW drive. Windows is normally quite adept at picking them up.

I have, myself, experienced a similar problem with Windows in the past.

Try looking in the BIOS (Check when you boot up. It will flash on-screen press a specific key to enter BIOS/CMOS setup.) See if you have the ability to determine automatically what drives you have available. Check, also, that your data cables are firmly pressed home to the back of your CD-RW and your motherboard.

Failing this, you could always attempt to repair your Windows installation. Insert your Windows CD-ROM and select to autoboot from your CD drive. Save the options and reboot. Follow the prompts to either repair the installation, or install Windows, but make sure you choose to upgrade your Windows installation, and not make a second installation.

there's really no driver for cd roms just firmware so if windows is not displaying the correct model in device manager then upgrade the firmware. just like bios upgrade if it's working fine there's no need to update it.
