It stands for Intellectual Quotient
Intellectual people aren't too lazy to say the whole thing- often, the're in a hurry or want to get a point over to people who don't know what IQ stands for. Intelligence quotient is a measure of your capability to learn, so IQ, in a sense, means how smart you are. An IQ of at least 140 is genius, and 110 is average. There are several tests to determine your IQ- the internet-based tests have a margin of error from 5 to 30 IQ points, and tests administered by professionals have a margin of error from 0 to 10 points. Tests by school guidance counselors and teachers can have a very slightly higher margin of error.

Intelligence Quotient.
Nope - I'm not too lazy to say the whole word. However, I do work in an industry where abbreviations and intialisations are rife, and it is quicker. For example, if the other person knows what I'm talking about, which is easier to say, especially when you're in a hurry:
a) Did you see the $h on that 245?
b) Did you notice the subfield "h" indicating a general materials description on that title proper?
Exactly.

IQ stands for intelligence quotient you can find out your IQ by taking a series of tests that add up to make your IQ, it is dependant on age and sex of a person, something I found out recently is that the tests are aimed at the western societies not other societies.

Intelligence Quotient - and it is not a silly question!

An intelligence quotient or IQ is a score derived from a set of standardized tests of intelligence. Intelligence tests come in many forms, and some tests use a single type of item or question. Most tests yield both an overall score and individual subtest scores. Regardless of design, all IQ tests attempt to measure the same general intelligence.
