1)Check the wires of the speaker are connected on to the rear side of your PC in the correct point (not in the microphone or some other point).
2)Check your bios settings ---> on board sound card should be enabled
3) In device manager(right click my computer icon and go in hardware tab in that device manager is there) check if any sound related device is having a yellow exclamation mark to it.
4)Try reinstalling the sound card drivers.
5)If not sucessfull PM me i will try to help you out.

Ok, how about the seemingly obvious? After trying all the below (wire connection/driver issues etc) did you try to restart the PC ?

That last step helped me many times when my speakers go silent for no apparent reason. Good Luck.

Uninstall audio driver and reinstall it.
You can uninstall audio driver from
1 - Open Start > Control Panel > System
2 - Go to Hardware tab and click Device Manager button.
3 - Expand Soubd, video and game controllers.
4 - Right click on your sound card name and select Uninstall.

Go to:
Start>Control Panel>Sounds

In the new window, click on the "Audio" tab.

make sure that "Use only default devices" has a check mark at the bottom of that screen.

make sure your cables to your speakers are plugged into the back of your computer and if that is okay go into your control pane underneath the sound options and make sure you do not have mute selected.
