There are many who are "on the dole", collecting public support of one kind or another while earning money under the table. Such is the nature of the beast.

Pensioners, on the other hand, are receiving monies they have already earned and contributed to railroad retirement and/or social security, as well as pensioners from any of the armed forces or other civil servants.

I make no apology for being a pensioner or owning my home. I didn't rob banks or deal dope or hit the lottery to do it, nor did I make shrewd investments in IRAs, Keoghs or "S" plans, either. My circumstances are the result of a lifetime sweating that began three days after graduating high school.

As far as Social Security or RR Retirement goes, it would be wise to assume these programs will have fallen by the wayside in the coming years, and certainly by the time someone entering the nation's work force today qualifies to collect it.

If one wants it, go get it. Too many want financial reward for little or no work at all, or work of poor quality.

And here is the salt in the wound. I retired six years ago, at the age of 47.

The dole is like a big black hole - once you are in, it's pretty hard to get out of it - and once you are there the £86 per fortnight is actually quite good, you can buy lots of Mayfair ten decks and is you save Burberry Skip Hats - and once you are there, there is also a better chance of winning the Jackpot - DLA and if you get the bonus ball as well - DLA High Rate!!!
