Naples Florida is really nice if you have a boatload of $$$$$$$.
It's the Beverly Hills of the Southeast.

Naples is pretty with Sanibel Island joining over a short bridge, but is expensive. San Diego area is nice, also expensive. Anywhere around San Francisco and north of there is too cold for ocean swimming, but beautiful country.

Mississippi gulf coast. Although just hit by recent storm, this place is really going to be great. I lived there all my life and just moved to VA. I think it is what you are looking for. It has the climate that you are looking for and is not to big but big enough for a nice night life, good shopping and lots of fun. The only draw back is education which can be resolved by private schools. I believe they are now trying to improve the public institutes but are years behind other states.

I think you'll find the people in Naples too old. Why not check out Tampa Bay.

Too many hurricanes for my taste I would move up into Georgia or South Carolina territory.
