The beautiful land of Kashmir has become an eyesore because of the dirty politics of the leaders who ruled us from the days of the British colonial empire in the Indian sub-continent. Not knowing the basic tenets of Hindu and Islam religions, the British were successful in sowing the seeds of hatredness in the minds of Hindus and Muslims. Now those seeds have grown into trees and the present rulers have no mind and courage to cut those trees and make efforts to unite the people of these two religions. Religion is the personal tool to understand the existence of God and realise the whole humanity is the creation of the Almighty. We never try to realise the basic truth but indulge ourselves in petty quarrels and lead a life that is far from the true principles of any religion in the world. The same thing is happening in India, Pakistan and Kashmir. Pakistan should call it a day for terrorism, India should understand the aspirations of the people of Kashmir, Kashmiris should decide the fate of thier own State without any outside influences. Can we anticipate such a day in near future?

Some helpful background on the Kashmir issue:
When the British, the colonial power, ruled the combined India-Pakistan sub-continent, they would put a Hindu ruler in a Muslim majority region and a Muslim ruler in a Hindu-majority region. This way you could crush any freedom struggle that ever started in that region. All they had to do was ask the ruler to use all force needed to crush the movement. Since the ruler was not a representative of the people in that region he had no problem carrying out their commands. In regions where this was not possible the British put their own to do the killing and controlling.
When Pakistan and India got thier idependence from the British and territories were divided up between the two newly created nations, the rule was that any region that was a Hindu-majority region, regrdless of who was ruling the region would go to India and any region that was a Muslim-majority region, regrdless of who was ruling the region would go to Pakistan. Ok, that is fair enough. Kashmir was, and is still, a Muslim-majority region, but it was ruled by a Hindu ruler. According to the rules it was supposed to be part of Pakistan, since it was a Muslim- majority region, but the Hindu ruler decided to break with the rules and asked the newly created India to send its military forces to support him and he will simply join India. As soon as that happend, part of Kashmir started to revolt against this breaking of the rules. That caused Pakistan to send its forces to help the Kashmiris who wanted to join Pakistan. But it was too late. The Hindu ruler, who had asked the Indians for the military re-inforcements ahead of time, had recieved over 700,000 troops who had already occupied 60% of Kashmir. Pakistan was only able to take 40% of Kashmir. But this did not stop the people of Kashmir region to continue the freedom struggle against what they clearly saw as an injustice and a breaking of the rules that were agreed upon before the partition of India-Pakistan sub-continent.
This freedom struggle still continues. The two countries have faught two wars. And a low-level struggle, similar to the resistance against Isaeili occupation of Palestine, still continues against the Indian occupation of Kaishmir. The people are mainly Kashimiris, although the get some support from Pakistan. If they were getting more support, this would be a full on war, but it isn't. Currently, the Indians maintain 1 million troops in Kashmir. I guess you can call that democracy.
What should happen now? This will not be solved by continuing the status quo. Both parties need to come to the table, that is what they are doing now, finally, since both countries have progressive governments at the momemnt. Good for both of them. The issue needs to be resolved so the people of Kashmir do not have to live under the gun of the military.
Hope this helps!

Conflict between India and Pakistan is all politically hyped. People should now forget old wounds and come together.
Politicians on both side of borders play with innocense of people to increase their political millege. Only solution to the problem is thru peace and brotherhood and citizens of both countries should act together to topple the corrupt motives of the polliticians. Wer youngsters should take initiative and form a citizen forum against this cruel acts of terrorism by politicians.

Kashmir is an integral part of India and will remain as one. The Muslims, wherever they are in majority, want a separate nation. They don't want to live peacefully with others and that is the reason for the current conflict. They think they and their religion are supreme. They forget that other religions have the same right as theirs, to live in this world.

Take my word this issue will not get solved for the next ten yrs , they got to be only in talks , as of now India does not get it the mess of war for its economic norms. Let me quote here that i dont mean India cant get into a war issue ,believe me if it gets there no other country will try to support it other than terroist . Well that can crushed in some time .
So dont try to under estimate india for war norms , it will not reach till there as of now say for 10 yrs dont know wht will Mushraff be there to carry this fight on ?
India wants to be a super power say in ten yrs we reach to that stage then Pak will our good friends , ok U might fine some here N there .
So the end will be that India will pull this in only talks N the world will support India for tht .

Kashmiri people should allow by both Pakistani and Indian Government to establish an independent State by themself as it was rulled by their own king(Moha Raja) before 1947.
Both Pakistan and India force Kashmiri people to be Pakistani & Indian respectively.
I donr support it.
UN shoul rulled out on this as UN did in favour of East Timur to be independent from Indonesia.
