No one else could have written the song. Others have tried.
The song was a product of the times and enabled it to become the anthem it is.
But, the song will never die as imagination will always exist. The natural curiousity of "no possessions" - "No need for greed or hunger" - "brotherhood of man" etc. will always occupy the minds of humans.
He did say he was a dreamer and that he was not the only one. Boy, did he nail that?

Imagine actually was recently "recovered" by A Perfect Circle and shown on MTV a couple of times. Never really got all that inflammatory because there too much information nowadays. Too easy to distract people from a common goal.

I think most people today are not open minded enough to understand the song and it's meaning. That was a timeless song written by a timeless hero, and will never be duplicated the same!

Definitely, people dont think about what it means, they just hear "Imagine there's no heaven" and freak out. John Lennon is my hero, and I do believe there's a heaven.

Well, I think it's especially TIMELY right now. "Imagine all the people, living life in peace" really sounds good to me.

Imagine is timeless.
The issues he "talks" are timeless.
Just listen carefully to it, and who knows, maybe even you will hear a message
