I'm wrioting an essay for my column thing on Prehistoric Age/Historic Age how do you think it is so far?

The invention of a written language made an enormous change in time. The written language changed the Prehistoric Age into the Historic Age. I’m going to tell you why writing was to make such an effect in history.

As you may already know, the invention of a system to write words separates the Prehistoric Age from the Historic Age. Not just fossils and artifacts are left behind for us to find, but written records are also. These record have been written in their own words or symbols that they used at the time. We do not really have to guess what culture was like because of things left behindthat give s thje whole idea of their way of life.

"The invention of a written language made an enormous change" not in time but in CULTURE. (For the first time, cultural information could be passed from one generation to another by means other than word of mouth.)

"I’m going to tell you ..." Avoid this construction. It's an announcement. Never announce what you are going to do - just do it.

"As you may already know,..." If the reader already knows it, don't mention it. Move on.

"the invention of a system to write words separates the Prehistoric Age from the Historic Age." You just said this. You are repeating yourself. Instead, you could say something like, "For the first time, something more than fossils and artifacts..."

When the repitition is eliminated, you haven't actually said much so far. Are you going to discuss the significance of this change?
