I believe that if you become a citizen you should know how to speak English. That does not mean that you cannot speak Spanish, it just means that you should not have to call the bank and hear "If you would like to continue in English press 1" You should know enough English to get by and have a decent conversation. At home and with your family you can continue to speak Spanish and keep your culture, but if you are coming into another country you should become part of that country.

All people who intend to live in the United States should learn to read, write and speak English.

Have the kids who speak Spanish or any other language do it on their on time or at home.

When I go into a country that speaks a language other than English, I am expected to know their language so why is it different for people who come to the US? I believe that we should make some accomodations, but we should be focused on speaking English, not another language.

We are English in decent for the most part. I believe english should be our main language. One should push #1 for spanish not english.
English should be our main language. We can not go to other countries and expect them to learn English over their main language.
Only in America. We shouldn't be required to learn anothers language. If people from afar come here, they should learn ours not us learning theirs. Even packaging labels now have another language before the English version.

In Australia, English is the national language. If you don't like it, leave. Same goes with America.

Feel free to speak any language you wish on your own time.
