He has a bald spot on the back of his head.. I know it's because he lays on his back and that causes his hair not to grow, BUT for a few months now. He only lays on his back at night to sleep... During naps he is usually on his side.. ( he prefers to sleep that way ) or on his tummy. or if not he is sitting. Shouldn't his hair be growing if he doesn't spend that much time on his back?? Is there anything I can do? it doesn't seem to be getting anywhere?

Why? Your saving money by not having to wash so much of it and not having to cut it.

He is probably rubbing his head on the blanket a lot while he lays on his back. He is trying to build up his back and neck muscles. The rubbing is stopping the hair growth. During the day if he is on the floor to play try to keep him on his tummy as much as possible. I wouldn't worry about how he likes to sleep at night. A bald spot is a small price to pay for a baby who is sleeping well.

Don't worry, he won't have a bald spot forever. My daughter had the same thing. Eventually the hair just grows. Babies skin is usually sensitive, so I wouldn't put anything on it. Just leave it be & it'll come in before you know it.

Don't worry, this is normal. All my kids did that, even the ones that slept on their sides. Some babies hair just takes longer to grow than others. I had a niece who was bald until she was 2!

It will grow in due time. My daughter is the same age and has the same problem. But I keep it oiled so that it won't get dry and break off.

Have you consulted his Dr. They should give you some professional advise... I would not worry about the hair if the child is healthy otherwise... It will come....

Give him tummy time Mommy, he needs that!...it will take some time, but he won't look like a little baldy back there forever. :-)
