8x^2 - 2y^2

1.) Split out the 2.
2 (4x^2 - y^2)

2.) When you have x^2 - a^2, the factors are (x+a) (x-a).
Thus: (4x^2 - y^2) = (2x + y) (2x-y)

Final factors : 2 (2x + y) (2x-y) (solution!)

Check:
2 (2x + y) (2x-y)
2 (4x^2 + 2xy - 2xy - y^2)
2 (4x^2 - y^2)
8x^2 - 2y^2 (check!)
