Yes--π, and a lot of other symbols, can be found by
opening a document in Word. Then go to the toolbar and click on "Insert", then "Symbols". A new box will pop up with an assortment of choices; scroll down through the choices under the "Symbols" tab, not the "Special Characters"--I found pi grouped with Basic Greek.

Up in the menus at the top do an Insert
Then Symbol
You will get a window with all the odd characters available in the font you are using. Find the π (pi) symbol, select and copy it. Then insert it into your document. If you hold your cursor over the π symbol in the window, it will give you a key combination (different for each font) that you can use to insert it in the future if that is easier.
