For starters, make sure you know a lot about the music industry to the point that you can speak about it intelligently, but not to the point that you are boring. Be able to answer music industry questions.

Next, apply for internships and offer to work for free if it is necessary. You have way too much competition out there. If you do get an intership, thank your lucky stars and thank people when they ask YOU to go get coffee.

When in your intership, make sure you have a fantastic attitue, offer to work late and volunteer to do the worst of tasks. You have to make sure you are enjoyable, so they would consider hiring you after you finish with school.

If you get hired, do not be too demanding with salary and thank them for under-paying you.

The point is, you have to love working in the music industry despite the tasks or pay. It will take you 10 or 15 years to get paid a decent salary. It's highly competitive and there aren't too many jobs out there, because people like to hire all their relatives. Good Luck
