LOL.......................girl I know what you are talking about. I used to work at a large car dealership and had 20 incoming lines. You wouldn't believe (yes you would) how rude people are. They would call for the stupidest things.

My all time favorite was this woman called mad at heck because she was getting a years FREE subscription to a magazine that she really didn't like (some promo with the sale of the car). I told her to THROW IT AWAY..............................lol.

Hang in there girl. ; )

I do! I hate it, but it's all a part of the job, honey.

The best way to deal with them is to keep your cool with a smile in your voice. If you train yourself to do it, you'll be amazed at what a difference it makes. If you have to, pretend they are naked to remind yourself not to take it too seriously (it works too!)

The key is to treat every single caller like they matter and that what they have to say is important. Being a receptionist is more than just transferring & fielding calls; it's the first line of defense for whom you represent and it is a career in listening!

Good luck with the next one.

When i was a receptionist i took out my anger on the telemarketers. I liked telling them to piss off before they could speak. I REALLY enjoyed the few times when one had decided to hate me, and would call back and make up claims to be related to my boss i would see through.
Ahh, we must all abuse those weaker then us from time to tiem ti seems.

Anyone who answers a phone has to put up with this. Heck, if you have a phone line in your home, there's bound to be someone rude who got a wrong number, or a rude telemarketer ... It just happens. The only difference is that when you're at work, you have to be nice to them. But of course, you are getting paid for it.

0! Im a Receptionist, but I don't answer phone calls for anybody on my floor. Everyone has their own phone lines and problems.

Every minute of every day. It's so tiring pleasing all these people all day long!! Receptionists are like the hardest working people in my mind.

"Isn't there anyone in that office that can speak English?"

"You any of you jerks actually do anything?"

"Let me talk to someone who has real power and authority."

"Are you happy that you treat me like crap?"

"If I find out who you are, I will track you down and beat you in the street!"
