Well, it is something like the following examples
Your fighting off a small monkey just when you think your getting the upper hand in the fight you turn around and find momma monkey there.
or
You win four thousand dollars at the track and you get home to find a tax refund for even more.
Get it? When things are really good or bad it is like when it rains it pours.
Of course it could just mean there is a small shower and then a big low front comes in. Decide for yourself.

well, when there is a run of bad luck in your life or something goes wrong, It is is usually more than 1 thing. It it didn't pour when it rained it would be a drizzle. For instance, I had lost my job 12 years ago and after i lost my job i broke my arm. so that's what it means..

Like when your starter goes out in your car and then when you go to get it fixed they tell you not only is it your starter, but you need a new battery, a new transmission, a new set of tires, an new spark plugs, .....and so on. When one thing goes wrong a ton of things go wrong at the same time.
