Besides the obvious 80's answers like Motley Crue and Poison, I was seriously into Lita Ford, Vixen, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Do you remember the video for "Wild Thing" by Sam Kinison, with all the heavy metal rockers in it? Absolutely the quintessential 80's heavy metal video. Kick A**!

Guys- Listen very carefully. People like Poison, & GnR are Not metal. They're glam & hard rock respectively.
Slayer, Metallica, Iron Maiden et al...now THAT'S heavy metal.
Btw, my fave 80s metal- Metallica.

I did not have a favorite 80's heavy metal band. I started liking Nirvana in the early-mid 90s. I started liking Metallica in the 90s.
I started liking Creed in 1999.

I like waay too many 80's heavy metal bands to pic a fave*
I do like Guns N' Roses a lot, though* I actually have they're Greatest Hits C.D. Another good C.D. I have is "Monster Ballads". I like a lot of the bands off of there*
