I had a roommate, and the rules before he moved into my apartment (paying certain bills, no noise/blasting music, etc.) were emphasized. This person posed as my friend, but: many times the apartment complex security have been called over regarding complaints about noise (and at this time I was working at night so I didn't know what went on at my place), he told me about it and then lied and said he wasn't making noise. Many times, he's been blasting music in my apartment and everytime I told him to turn it down, he got an attitude about it and gave the "its Friday" or "its Saturday" excuse. He would invite people over, especially boyfriends without my permission - one time he let someone stay over until 4 a.m. and I told him that I was pissed off he did that. This person is 21 years old. I kicked him out in the middle of May, but the last thing I need to do is throw him out of my life. I even took him to the hospital when he was sick - 3 times! Tell me your opinions/answers.

YES he is a toxic friend. Stop talking to him cold turkey asap. Hang up on him if he calls, but tell him u are no longer his friend first, before u hang up. Dont call him or accept any calls or emails from him. He will get the hint eventually and look for a new sucker.

Do not burn bridges living with a friend can strain a friendship. You did the right thing all around. Take the high road and phase out or scale down the friendship dramatically. With a warm smile and a ..."not this week I am very busy" in your verbal exchange.

He doesn't necessarily sound toxic, just disrespectful. If he's living in your place, regardless if he pays bills, tell him he better respect your wishes or he's gone. If he can't do that he's not much of a friend and you don't want him in your life anyway.
