The back up vocalists for Little Anthony?
Ooh sorry 'bout that. I just couldn't control myself. Mental incontinence.
What we got here are the firm beginnings (the end of the beginning really) of the postmodern religious war. We have been thrust into this by our past sins of using petrol and not caring whom we stepped on to get at the source. The Muslim Imams today criticized The Pope for encouraging/preaching hatred and war against Islam and their One True Prophet. My question now is: What have they been doing in the Mosque? Even in their rebuttal they refer to anyone outside of Islam as 'Infidels'. That ain't gonna win many converts here.
In reference to your question as to who are the imperialists. The one thing that this country has not done (with the exception of Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, and maybe Guantanamo Bay, Cuba) is covet another country's piece of earth. We may be conquerors or worldly policemen, but we are not 'keepers of the foreign property'. Not to say we haven't attempted to install friendly (puppet) governments but we are not imperialist in the 19th century mold of Great Britain, Holland, Germany, France etc.
Perhaps your question was a rhetorical one. But there can be little doubt that Islam wants to convert the world to their religion. And in this regard they ARE the Religious Imperialists.

Al Qaida and all these other supposed "Islamic" groups might do well to actually read the pope's remarks before shooting off their mouths (and AK-47's).

But then again, knowing what they are talking about would definitely be out of character and counter productive to their cause of, among other things, sowing mis-information and distrust and generally destabilizing the world.

Israel and America are the only two countries that can actually claim the imperialist title. Al Qaida and its ilk can't claim the title because they currently don't control any countries (although we have practically handed them Iraq through our actions there). If they controlled a country and were attempting to expand their borders/area of control beyond that country's border, they could claim the imperialist title as well. Otherwise they are just guerilla extremists.
